Meet the candidates on the WIPO campaign trail
With elections for a new WIPO director-general slated for May, Eklavya Gupte talked to the candidates for the top job
| One-minute read |
After an 11-year stint in the job, WIPO director-general Kamil Idris will step down this year, 12 months before the end of his official term. With elections for his successor scheduled for May this year, WIPO needs a new leader to instil confidence into the Organization's staff and member states.
Over the next eight pages, Managing IP looks at the 15 candidates who have been nominated to take on the job. We contacted each of the candidates to request interviews that covered their plans for the Organization, their qualifications for the job and how they plan to heal WIPO's rifts along with some questions that elicited some revealing information about the contenders. Extracts from the interviews are published here. |
